22 Oct, 2009 01:00 AM
COMBOYNE'S annual garden walk has combined with the Holiday Coast Credit Union Tastings of the Hastings for the inaugural Festival de Chocolat.

The event will be held on Saturday October 24.

The Comboyne Community Association-sponsored event will include a chocolate competition and auction of entries. Coffee, chocolates and delicious treats will be available from noon at the Community Centre.

The Festival de Chocolat will feature great prizes for the winner of each section including, best chocolate cake, best small cakes (6), best individual chocolates (6), best chocolate sculpture and children's open selection.

A beautiful display of town and rural landscape gardens will once again be open to the public from 9am - 4pm. Comboyne Culture with Altitude Cheese Factory will also be open. Call in for coffee and cakes, cheese tastings, sales and view the factory.

Garden Walk entry is still only $5 per adult with children under 12yrs free.

Tickets/maps will be available for purchase outside the Comboyne Community Store. Bring a picnic lunch for the park, or tasty lunches are available at the popular Udder Cow Caf.

On display this year are a variety of gardens; some old favourites like Phyllis Fishers "Girraween Gardens" on Wingham Road, which is five times winner of the Sun-Herald Garden Competition. And as an added interest a local produce farm will also be open to the public, showcasing Avocado production.

All Garden Walk proceeds are for the benefit of the Comboyne Public School children. For enquiries contact Comboyne Public School on 6550-4174 or Anne-Marie Gregory on 6550-4385.
