JUDGING of hall exhibits for the 98th Wauchope Show will commence on Wednesday.
The annual show will be held on April 4 and 5.
Hall entries for the show will be taken in the main hall from Monday between 8am and 4.30pm.
The hall exhibits at the Wauchope Show are considered one of the best in country NSW with the local event widely acknowledged as being the ‘Royal of the North’.
Chief steward for the hall, Patricia Douglas, said she was expecting a higher than usual number exhibits.
“There has already been more enquiries than usual so I’m sure it will be a great year again,” she said.
“It’s always been great and the interest this year from entrants has been higher than normal.
“Last year’s exhibits were excellent but we were a little down on entrants in the woodwork and metalwork categories so hopefully this year we get a few more.”
It is Mrs Douglas’ first year as chief steward following over 35 years’ involvement in the show.
She fills the void left with the sad passing of long-serving show society member and director, Keith McKenzie.
With the help of 30 volunteers the winning entries will be decided by various judges from all over the region in 18 sections.
Judging will be held on Wednesday for:
School work, art, photography, handicrafts, dolls, ceramics and pottery, neddlework, spinning and weaving, leatherwork, woodwork and metalwork, home brew and aged care.
Judging will be held on Thursday for:
Fruit and vegetables, grain, chaff and fodder, cookery, jams, cut flowers, plants in containers, Bonsai and arranged flowers.
Anyone interested in entering in the many sections can find out all the information at www.wauchopeshowsociety.com.au or by calling the Wauchope Show Society on 6585 3023.
