SOME of the best knitters in the Hastings congregated at the Wauchope Senior Citizen’s Hall on Friday for the final count of the Wraps with Love initiative.
The charity which provides blankets to the less fortunate all over the world is a group initiative involving the Wauchope Senior Citizens, the Country Women’s Association and the Catholic Women’s League.
32 knitters attended the final day where a total of 201 blankets were counted ready to send to those less fortunate thanks to the ABC.
The ladies have been knitting for the Wraps with Love for four years now and according to Wauchope Senior Citizens president Fay Shirtliff it’s very rewarding.
"The ladies love catching up and having a chat while knitting,” she said.
"It's great to know we can help people out with such ease.
"The support from everyone has been great from those who knit the squares to the people who donate the wool.”
The blankets consist of 28 squares and take roughly 155 hours per blanket.
Cameron Marshall from the ABC was the special guest on the day and praised the women’s efforts.
