PASTOR Danny Milenkov of the Wauchope SDA Church (NSW) was invited recently by the church in Macedonia to come and hold some Bible seminars in a town called Kocani.
"How could I say no to such an invitation, an invitation that is Biblical, reminding me of the time when a man appeared to the Apostle Paul in vision pleading with him saying, 'Come over to Macedonia and help us?" See Acts 16:9," he said.
Pastor Danny's parents were born and raised in Macedonia and so Danny was able to present several of the messages in Macedonian, however, a number of them had to be translated by an interpreter.
"I was overjoyed to share the love of Jesus with some relatives that I have in Macedonia who came along to the meetings."
Like in the days of Paul, today the church in Macedonia does need a lot of help with many challenges that it faces, especially from the powerful Macedonian Orthodox Church which is immersed in the culture and life of the people.
With only 200 Seventh-day Adventists in a country of 2 million there is much work to be done in sharing the everlasting gospel.
Pr Danny was able to raise $20,000 for the running of the program (from church members in Wauchope, Port Macqaurie, Camden Haven and Telegraph Point as well as churches in Melbourne and Brisbane) which also included; purchasing Bibles, printing other literature and DVD's to be distributed, as well as funding Bible workers and Christian book salesmen to share the message of Jesus and that He is coming back soon.
The series was taped by the local TV station so that many who wanted to come along to the meetings but were afraid to come because of family and church pressure will be able to see the messages.
The theme of the series which ran over two weeks was: "Prophecies of Hope for a Troubled World." Up to 100 people came to hear the good news that Jesus alone has the answer to this world's troubles and that His ultimate solution is His soon return.
Unemployment is very high in Macedonia, upwards of 30-40% and many are living in poverty with the average monthly wage of a factory worker being AUD$250 with pensioners receiving $100AUD.
