PORT Macquarie Hastings Council's report into its recommendation to sell Timbertown to David and Alison Waite includes the potential impact on the (Wauchope) community.
The report says that the sale of Timbertown to the Waites represents a positive resolution to the Timbertown review for the entire local government area.
"Under the proposed operating model put forward by the Waites, Timbertown will remain open and operational as a heritage theme park," the report tabled at last night's council meeting says.
"Throughout the community consultation, the overwhelming desire from the community was to keep the park open and operational and under the scenario as described in this report, the park will remain operational under the control of the Waites.
"As also evidenced by the recent community consultation process, overwhelmingly the community wanted funding for Timbertown to come from the State or Federal government.
"However no offers of funding have been forthcoming from either level of government and in consideration of the fact that Council also does not have the funds to continue to manage and develop Timbertown, the sale of Timbertown to the Waites represents a positive result for the community.
"In addition to this, the sale of Timbertown also aligns with Councils back to basics
agenda, allowing Council to focus on core activities."
