Scott-Irving will contest election

18 Jan, 2007 09:10 AM
WALLABI Point resident, Stewart Scott-Irving will stand for the Federal seat of Lyne as an independent candidate.

Within a teaching career spanning 37 years, Scott-Irving has taught across the age and subject spectra, K-12, within schools and to adult students within TAFE and universities.

"I have been responsible for executive teaching and administration within one-teacher remote schools and up to those being staffed by 45 members within similarly remote communities as those envisaged in NT," he said.

"Evolving over this period has been my personal educational philosophy and practice, my pursuit of best management model development and its implementation.

"At the same time, I established valuable expertise and program links.

"In line with my educational philosophy, not content with my perspective as a teacher being confined to the classroom and my immediate students, I have monitored, adopted and adapted educational programs and research - achieving results which have enabled my students to develop personally, professionally and several, internationally.

"In the same way, I have had experience in program development and implementation for disabled, learning impaired and gifted students, liaising with their parents, teachers and external agency personnel.

"My experience in co-ordinating educational agency input is identified within, but not restricted to, my role as consultant in Aboriginal Remedial Education for Lismore District regional schools, K-12, which brought together Federal, State and Local Government, Education, Health & Welfare agencies and personnel."
