There's a new vet owner in town but the face is very familiar.
Veterinarian Michael Ferguson has been a common sight at the Clinic for the past two and a half years.
With a wealth of knowledge, a craving for greater responsibility Dr Ferguson has taken the opportunity to assume ownership of the Clinic from Chris Simmonds.
With 25 years of serving the Wauchope community Chris Simmonds was ready to relinquish some responsibility.
'My wife, Leisa and I were more than ready to take up that responsibility and opportunity' said Michael.
"Chris will continue to work in the practice and be a very important part of the team, which a lot of people will be happy about having been very loyal clients and friends for such a long time"
Michael grew up in Colombia surrounded by exotic animals, his interest in animals has taken him across the UK and to many parts of Australia.
As a qualified veterinarian for ten years Michael brings a wide array of knowledge to the practice which he says helps particularly in Wauchope.
'Wauchope is such a fantastic place to live and the variety of patients we have make my work enjoyable and constantly challenging.
There's always so much happening at the Clinic that we are hoping to expand the Clinic to accommodate all our clients needs.
Michael sees that there is an opportunity for additional staff to allow them to increase the services they currently offer.
'The people of the Wauchope community are so welcoming and i would like to offer a service that best suits their needs'.
'My family love it here and this opportunity allows us to continue our association with the community.'
Michael wants to take an active approach to preventative health care.
'We see alot of cases that end up needing very costly treatment that could easily have been avoided with some regular preventative medicine.
"Even a basic regular check up can end up saving our clients alot of money in the long run."
'We had puppies here recently with Parvo virus which is an very contagious disease and costly to treat that could have been prevented by a simple vaccination.'
"There is a whole new range of preventative measures and health products that can definetly enhance the lives of our best friends, like the brand new once a month flea tablet which can save a lot of hassles at this time of year.'
An emphasis on friendly, professional service and reducing vet costs through preventative strategies are the major priorities for Michael.
He and the team at Wauchope Vet Clinic look forward to welcoming you.
