BEECHWOOD'S fourth grade Buffalos cruised to victory against Port's Panther Pirates 'Blue' on the weekend.

The Buffalos won the toss and opted to bat at Wauchope's Lank Bain Oval with openers Ted Edwards combining with Mark Fog for a 143 run partnership.

Fog was in great touch and was unbeaten on 103 runs while Edwards and Corey Lester both hit half-centuries to help lead the Buffalos to a score of 268 off 37 overs.

In a one-sided affair the Buffalos tore through the nine-player Pirates batting order with the visitors scoring just 50 runs, bowled all-out off ten overs.

Beechwood only required the services of three bowlers with captain Seth Vagg the best with the ball taking 4 for 25 from 5 overs while Ted Edwards finished with 3 for 15 and Benji Mackewicz took 1 for 8.

The Buffalos will meet with Bonny Hills next weekend at Lank Bain 1.

THE Beechwood Colts third grade side enjoyed a great hit-out against the Magpies at Beechwood Oval on Saturday.

The home-side lost the toss and was sent into the field where they held the Magpies to 148 off 33 overs.

C Philipson was a stand-out for the Colts claiming four scalps for 23 runs off eight overs.

S Karbowiak backed up with 2/11 off four overs while N Preece and M Ostler took one wicket each.

The Colts' batsmen had a shaky start with Ostler bowled lbw for one.

Led by S Pateman (53) and M Ennor (45) the Beechwood outfit chipped away at the run-chase and finally took the match hitting 4/ 152 off 38 overs.

IT WAS a weekend for close matches with the Beechwood Warriors taking on Wauchope RSL B in their thrid grade match at Fairmont Gardens on Saturday.

The RSL outfit won the toss and elected to bat and in a great tug-of-war the momentum swinging both ways as the RSL side hit a modest 115 runs.

Ryan Ackerman again put in an impressive performance taking 3/16 off eight overs.

He was well supported by Matt Bird who took 2/34 off his eight overs and Brad Ostler who took one wicket for 22.

Chasing 116 to win the Warriors struggled to find rhythm with Ostler retiring on 20 and plenty of batsmen unable to capitalise on their starts.

E Hendricks was unable to find enough support and was unbeaten on 23 while tailender J Cutler was solid finishing on 27.

But it wasn't enough as the Warriors fell short in the 35th over bowled out for 114.

IN the other fourth round match the Beechwood Beavers met the Macquarie Hotel outfit at Tuffins Lane on Saturday.

It was another one-sided affair with the Macquarie outfit winning the toss and taking to the Beechwood bowlers with ease scoring 7/259 off 38 overs.

J Roods and P Hyde were the best of the Beechwood bowlers with Roods taking 2/28 off 4 overs and Hyde taking 2/22 from six overs.

Sent into bat the Macquarie attack was unrelenting eventually bowling the Beavers out for 98 runs off 20 overs.

Opener D Linfield (19) and first-drop S Williams (26) were the major contributors with the bat whils J Roods remained unbeaten on 18.
