Students excel at karate titles

03 Jun, 2010 08:16 AM
OVER the previous weekend students from the Port Macquarie and Wauchope Ken-Sei-Kan Karate Dojo travelled to Kempsey and competed in the Australian Martial Arts Championships.

The small contingent of six competitors took a total of 15 trophies and medals.

Sensei Michael Fardell and Paul Rollo have recently returned from a training and grading tour in Japan where both Sensei's Fardell and Rollo were awarded their 5th Dan Black Belt Rank.

Much of the training that we participated in while in Japan focused on competition preparation and training and we have been able to successfully pass this knowledge on to our students which I believe contributed to the student's recent success, the duo said.

It is anticipated a larger contingent of Ken Sei Kan Karate students from both Port Macquarie and Wauchope will compete in Round 2 of the AMAC to be held In Kempsey in August spurred on by the success of there class mates.
