FEMALE riders who want to experience the thrills of motocross riding will get the chance when the Hastings Valley Motorcycle Club hosts a free, ‘Come and try it day’.
The day will be supervised by a number of the club’s accredited coaches who will provide instruction on how the day will run.
There are limited numbers and spots are only open to females who have never held a competition licence and it will be held on October 11 at the Hastings Valley Motorcycle Club track.
It’s a chance to give female riders of all ages the opportunity to ride around the club’s fist class facility in a controlled environment.
The club believes that there are many female riders out there who want to experience motocross riding for the first time without the intimidation of other more experienced male or female riders on the track.
Jacqui Jones from the Hastings Valley Motorcycle Club says the day is the perfect opportunity to give females the chance to see how much fun motocross riding is for any rider at any level of ability.
“It will be a very informative and enjoyable day,” she said.
“We will give the basic information also, even before getting on the bike we will run through the set up of a motorcycle, the controls, the correct riding position and techniques which will be valuable once the girls get on the track.
“After all that instruction, it will then be a matter of how much fun you can have on your bike,” she said.
Once riders are on the track there will be a number of experienced riders who will provide on track instruction and practical demonstrations.
Among these will be local Australian Off Road Champion, Chris Hollis along with 2007 winner of the Australian Girls on the Gas competition Jacqui Jones and others who will be on hand to give tips on how to master the finer points of jumps, cornering, braking, acceleration, correct gear selection and all safety aspects of riding.
While the day will provide a great amount of experience for all levels of rider the focus will be on fun and enjoying time on the track.
