Fishing Club digs deep for appeal

18 Jun, 2009 08:47 AM
THE Wauchope RSL Fishing Club, with assistance from their Beechwood counterparts, have donated $566 toward the Rotary Victorian Bushfire Appeal.

Club members raised the funds through chocolate sales during a three month campaign.

Fishing Club spokesperson, Brett Foster, said the joint effort was another example of the strong community spirit within the area.

"The Beechwood Fishing Club supported us in raising these funds and it is a true joint effort," he said.

"We would like to thank the community for their support also as well as all members who participated.

"It was really pleasing to see that many people simply gave us a donation toward the appeal too. This is a great town for supporting things like this," he said.

Foster said the RSL Club had also been supportive of the appeal and the fishing club itself over many years.

The funds were presented to the Rotary Club of Wauchope president, Reg Pierce.
