Stayin' Alive - The Australian Bee Gees Show will hit the stage in Port Macquarie on Wednesday February 26 for one night only as part of the Sweet Songs of Summer' Tour.
After three years and 1000 shows headlining on the Las Vegas strip, the band performs a brand new show that is a chronology of hit's chosen from the extensive catalogue that defines the amazing career of The Brothers Gibb, from their first performances in Australia right through to the One Night Only concert in Las Vegas.
The show will feature all of the greatest hits throughout the decades but will also tell the Bee Gees story in a multi- media show that captures the mood and memories of the time.
When the Wauchope Gazette caught up by phone with Michael Clift, who plays Barry Gibb he was just gearing up for the group's nightly performance at The Excalibur Hotel and Casino on the Las Vegas Strip. He is joined by band mates Wayne Hosking as Maurice Gibb on keyboard, guitar and vocals and David Scott as Robin Gibb on vocals.
Having racked up over a 1000 performances in tinsel town the question was begging "how do you not get sick of it night after night?"
"I just really love it," said Michael.
"17 years is a long time to be doing this and we've done over 5000 shows but over time we have just evolved and had this great journey"
We never dreamed we would take it to Vegas and to be together that long, you have to have a great rapport - we spend more time with each other than with our own families".
Interestingly, the show while seemingly simple in its routine is actually quite complex.
"It's unique in that the show is scripted yet it must appear fluid," explained Michael.
"You have to keep up with the spontaneous banter from the band.
"Making people like you, believe you - it's tricky...the audience must believe in the show and have that suspension of disbelief.
"So the performance has to be slick - it's crazy but every time we perform it's different - it resets every single night".
And it had to be asked, "What's your favourite song to perform?" - a long pause before answering "to love somebody"...a brilliant choice!
Stayin' Alive have conquered Las Vegas and have played to capacity houses around the world, cementing their reputation as an exceptional live concert act and the world's leading Bee Gees Show.
