TWO drivers have had a lucky escape when a car travelling along the Oxley Highway towards Wauchope collided with a reversing sedan.

The accident happened around 9am on Monday. Police from Laurieton, Fire and Rescue units from Wauchope and two ambulances attended the scene. The highway was closed and traffic diverted around nearby side streets.
The driver of the car travelling towards Wauchope did not see a vehicle reversing out of the driveway just near Thomas' Butchery where the collision happened.
Both drivers were relatively unharmed; one complained of a sore chest and the other had a cut above his lip. Neither was taken to hospital.
Attending police commented that the accident "could have been a lot worse".
Both drivers were checked by ambulance officers at the scene and the highway reopened around 9.45am
