The Hastings Street supermarket has scooped three awards at the IGA Annual Regional Awards night held at Sails Resort by Rydges in Port Macquarie last Wednesday February 12.
For the second year running the store has claimed the award of Best Dairy and Freezer as well as Best Meat and Best Customer Service in the region.
The Region includes all IGA stores from Dungog to Coffs Harbour and judging was conducted across 10 categories; Grocery, Deli, Liquor, Meat, Dairy and Freezer, Bakery, Produce, Customer Service, General Merchandise and Retailer of the Year.
Ben Trommels who received the award in the Best Meat category was unfazed by the recognition for what he does every day.
"Really, we are just doing our job - that's our normal standard," he said.
IGA Manager Darren Partridge was thrilled with the awards but reiterated that the standards set by staff at the store are always very high.
"Our customer service is continually monitored through the Retail Standard Appraisal System," explained Darren.
"Our store has a star rating of four and a half out of five and we recently scored 95 per cent in our appraisal," he said.
Sam Williams who received the award for best customer service on behalf of the store has once again proved the IGA staff are worthy recipients.
According to Mrs Margo Wilkinson, a visiting customer from Newcastle, the service she received from Sam was outstanding.
"I came up on the train last Thursday to visit my daughter and before I left I thought I would try and place a grocery order over the phone," said Mrs Wilkinson.
"Not only did Sam take my order and allow me to pay for it, she contacted me a few more times to ensure I was happy with the choices she had made on my behalf.
"She was just so helpful, cheerful - nothing was a problem.
"I am a huge advocate for great customer service and she nailed it - she was just gorgeous," said Mrs Wilkinson.
The State Awards will be held in Sydney in March.
Last year the Wauchope IGA won Best Liquor at this event so watch this space.
Chances are the store will score a Guernsey to the Nationals.
