THE annual Excellence in Service awards will feature a new prize this year.
Travelworld Wauchope's Robyn Flanagan, is offering a $500 travel voucher to be offered as a lucky door prize on the awards night.
Mrs Flanagan said she is delighted to offer the prize to support the culture of service excellence in Wauchope.
"My history with service excellence goes way back, and actually begins at home, in a family who had a culture of welcome and hospitality," Mrs Flanagan said.
"That translates for me into a welcoming environment in business."
June 27: Women's Network joins awards
After 20 years in travel and tourism, and teaching in this area at TAFE for many years, Mrs Flanagan said it is the small touches of Customer Care that make a business outstanding.
"Wauchope offers a unique business community in which to develop the culture of excellence," she said.
"So many visitors to this town comment on how friendly it is and how welcome they feel when they shop here.
"Interacting daily with other businesses in Wauchope, I feel we have a great opportunity to build on this exceptional atmosphere and encourage and reward it where possible.
"The Service Excellence Awards are one important step in that direction."
According to Mrs Flanagan, there is no doubt that Wauchope businesses should see the rise of on-line selling as an opportunity.
"With so many retail products - and travel in particular - able to be purchased on line with no personal interaction, we need to recognise this as an opportunity to be better than an oline experience, providing expert advice and a welcoming manner," she said.
"People like to deal with people! Lets acknowledge the fantastic opportunities we have in Wauchope and surrounding areas and celebrate the personalities we deal with daily, and which make our lives here better in so many ways.
"I look forward to seeing all our colleagues and friendly shop assistants at the Chamber of Commerce Service Excellence Awards on August 17."
