Police have a charged a driver in relation to the hit-run death of a pedestrian on the mid-north coast earlier this week.
About 6.20pm on Wednesday 20 June, the 48-year-old woman was struck by a vehicle on Hill Street in Port Macquarie.
The car involved did not stop after the collision and the woman was left with fatal injuries. She died at the scene.
An investigation was launched by officers from the Mid North Coast Crash Investigation Unit and detectives to find the driver and car involved.
Following information uncovered during the investigation, police seized a green coloured 2000 model Mazda 323 from a business in Port Macquarie yesterday afternoon.
A short time later, police arrested a 53-year-old woman at a home on Hill Street.
She has been charged in relation to the collision with fail to stop and render assistance following a vehicle impact causing death.
The woman has been released on conditional bail and will appear at Port Macquarie Local Court on July16 .
