THE Wauchope RSL Blues have cemented a place at the top of the Group 3 rugby league ladder after defeating arch-rival Port City Breakers at the regional oval last Sunday.
In winning 26-16, the Blues also retained the coveted Battle of the Hastings Cup.
The Blues started the game in top gear but soon found themselves behind on the scoreboard when Breakers capitalised on a handling error by the Blues to post a try against the run of play.
"We basically dominated the remainder of the first half from that point on," a club spokesperson said.
"Try scorers included Robbie Trembath 2, Anthony Coombes, Aaron Ison and Dustin Prosser while Prosser booted three goals for the match.
"There is a very good feeling running through the club right now but we are mindful that we cannot let complacency come into play."
The Blues will host Old Bar Beach Pirates this Sunday in what is another crucial clash for the home side.
The Pirates are currently in a rich vein of form and the first grade Blues will need to be at their best to ensure they maintain their place at the top of the competition ladder.
Chris Trembath was named players player.
