Candidate for Port Macquarie-Hastings Council Jeff Styles is campaigning for greater inclusion and cooperation with the region’s smaller and rural communities.
Mr Styles says that our area needs to progress as a whole region.
“Meaningful progress can only occur, I believe, if we are inclusive of all communities across the Port Macquarie-Hastings," he said.
"We need representation of not only the main population centres but also the smaller, outlying communities – they too have plenty to offer and have their own set of circumstances that require attention.”
The candidate says it’s time to represent the whole region.
“Council needs to support all communities so that all communities may support Council.
"Imagine what our region will be able to achieve if the whole local government area works collaboratively on issues and projects.
"For the best outcomes, I feel that we will need to canvass as many ideas and approaches as possible and this will mean Council being interactive with all corners of the Hastings region.”
Mr Styles grew up in the rural locality of Pembrooke, approximately ten minutes out of Wauchope and he has been involved with some of the region’s smaller communities throughout his campaign; he has been working with members of the Beechwood community to attempt to have a bus service be taken to the village and he has organised to discuss key issues with residents of the Comboyne area.
