Tree Fiesta hailed a success

SATURDAY'S Tree Fiesta hosted by Wauchope Arts is being hailed a success.

And organisers are already planning the 2013 event which will be staged on the final weekend in July.

A spokesperson said the day had plenty of atmosphere with a strong community sense.

"The crowd flowed through Bain Park throughout the day," the spokesperson said.

"Probably the highlight was the community painting effort to create a mandala. That art will be dedicated and placed on the wall of the arts hall on Saturday August 11.

"Designed by Jo Davidson, this mandala will be unveiled on the afternoon we host a local young performers' concert in the hall."

The August 11 concert starts at 8pm with the doors opening at 7.30pm.

Another Tree Fiesta feature was the art exhibition celebrating the life of Arthur McNeil who sadly passed away last month. Art was also provided by students from Westport High School.

"There were also fundraising efforts for the Koala Hospital while all performers on the day proved very successful and very popular," the spokesperson said.

"Funding was made available from Arts NSW while we also had great support from council's tourism division and Linda Hall.

"Hastings Landcare and Wauchope Community Progress Association also attended the event."

The 2013 event will coincide with National Tree Day on the last weekend in July.
