Netballers head for Taree carnival

AFTER playing their normal competition games on Saturday Wauchope Netball Club had six teams travel to Taree for their Annual Carnival.

The teams were: U10 Plovers coached by Kim Thompson and sponsored by Thompsons Sheds & Trading; U11 Wrens coached by Donna Lewis and sponsored by Lewis' Quality Meats; U11 Bellbirds coached by Helen Miles and sponsored by Timbertown Pharmacy.

U12 Doves coached by Sue Johnson and sponsored by Dustys Fire Management; Div 6 Willywags coached by Kirsty Johnson and sponsored by Select Machiney Sales and Div 2 Robins coached by Sue Johnson and sponsored by Wauchope Real Estate.

U12 Doves had 9 games to play and all girls did well to last the day out. It was a good way to get lots of training in leading up to the semi-finals.

Bella and Zeeanna did a wonderful job in defence all day. They both came up with many intercepts and backed up their attack end very well.

Tayla O'Neill and Holly Jones shared the Wing Defence position most of the day, however, Tayla also did well in wing attack and goal keeper.

Holly came up with some great intercepts and touches. Holly had a few spills but come out unscathed. Jordan Styles played centre most of the day and Jord is moving the ball down the court beautifully.

Tamika Cordell was wing attack and also centre and she is playing extremely well, and yes Tamika you are turning in the air and landing superbly. Kelsey Blanch and Kiara Durbidge are our shooters and had a pretty consistent day. These girls combine very well in the circle.

Our last game was a "fun game" where all players swapped positions, giving our defence a chance of shining as shooters, and our shooters a go at defending.

They all did very well, especially Bella in shooter and centre, and Kiara also did a great job in wing defence.

Our shortys Jordan, Kelsey and Tamika all got a rebound in defence.

Tayla and Zeeanna were unlucky not to get a goal. Holly played wing attack and played wonderfully.

Div 2 Robins were almost undefeated on the day - 7 wins and 1 draw.

They had a few tough games and secured first place in their second last game after coming back from being 3 down against Gloucester to win 9-8. Massive effort girls. You dug deep when you needed to.

Kirsty Johnson filled in for a few games and showed she hasn't lost it as a shooter. She also had a personal cheer squad on the sideline (her Willywags team).

Maddy Fog, Eliza Colby and Jemma Rullis were fantastic in defence all day. Some of their intercepts were just beautiful to watch.

Keahne Kinnaird and Kirra Trotman were just brilliant in shooting, rarely missing all day. Jess Slater, Ellen Witchard and Natasha were mainly the mid court players and played so well.

They combined beautifully in the middle, making it very hard for the opposition to shut them down.

Wauchope Plovers attended the Taree carnival on Sunday and had a great day.

The girls played 5 games throughout the day and also filled in for the under 11's team.

The girls lost to CJ Blue Birds and Gloucester but found there form for the last three games winning against PP Flick , Camden Haven Riverview and CJ Little Stars.

The girls all enjoyed the day with lots of fun and laughter and all bonded well together.

A big thank you goes to Layne Foster for umpiring all our games for the day and Mark Kucera for video the games.

A special thank you goes to all the parents who attended the day and for the huge support they give the girls.

Meanwhile Wauchope Netball Club Annual General Meeting will be held on Thursday September 13 7pm at Wauchope RSL.
