Timbertown Management hosted a successful event on Friday February 28, to help local community clubs with membership, and to form new clubs and interest groups.
The independent clubs that operate within the heritage park such as the Wauchope Heritage Gallery Association, the Wood Workers Guild, and the proposed Steam Club, had a successful membership event hosted by the park management.
It has allowed the clubs to gain new membership, and several progressive steps were made towards creating new clubs and interest groups, that will operate within the park precinct. In all, there is an initial interest of 18 persons seeking to start a Timbertown Steam and Vintage Machinery Club so that will now move ahead.
Given the much needed rain we had a good turnout from interested persons wanting to be involved in one of the many clubs and societies in the park, which is very encouraging.
The wood workers recently completed the construction of this magnificent water wheel out of local Black butt timber, the wheel has been a success, with children as part of the new Cedar Creek goldmine attraction, and well photographed by visitors. The art and craft gallery had four new members join.
There are also plans to expand the miniature steam railway, together with talk of a miniature village, a park spokesperson said.
"We will hold another meet and greet later in the year and thanked all the community members for the initial interest, and look forward to growing community based groups in a positive manner within the park," the spokesperson said.
If anyone is interested in joining in with any of the groups, please phone Timbertown reception on 6586 1940.
