The National Young Leaders Day was held at the Qantas Credit Union Arena on Monday the March 3 and attracted 5,500 primary students along with their principals and teachers from schools across the state.
The event was hosted by the Halogen Foundation whose mission is to inspire young people to lead themselves and others well.
Guest speakers presenting to students included author Andy Griffiths, Ita Buttrose and The Hon. Bob Carr.
Each speaker brought their unique life experience to the platform as they shared insightful and encouraging sessions, instilling the message that despite circumstances, anyone can be a leader and make a difference in the world around them.
"This event is a rare opportunity for young people to personal interact with some of society's most influential leaders," says Director of the Halogen Foundation Mike Martin.
"The main concept we want students to grasp is that it is their choices that matter when it comes to using their own influence at home, at school and the wider community."
The National Young Leaders day event series for primary schools takes place annually across Australia, with more than 14,000 students participating nationally.
