The team reached its only other grand final decider five years ago, claiming the premiership in a washed out game. This year though, the team wants to win on its own merits.
The 1st grade team has been building over the past five years but unfortunately, one way or another, have come up short in the semi-finals.
Captain Brad Baxter is proud of the team due to the way they have come together this year and brought into the team culture that he wanted to create.
There is a great camaraderie amongst the boys as they don't want to let each other down, hence there motto this year "one in- all in'.
It has been a great team effort to get to where they are at the moment, although there have been games where we have had a stand out performer; all team members have contributed in some way each game. Wauchope will take on Macquarie Hotel who have made the last four grand finals and have dangerous players all over the park.
Even though Wauchope are going in as massive underdogs Brad Baxter and the boys are ready to rip in and claim the premiership they have worked so hard for.
Team to tackle Macquarie Hotel at Oxley oval this weekend include:
Bradley Baxter (c): Leads from the front, great tactician.
Matt "funky" Miller: Opening batsman who likes to bully the bowlers and can turn a match in a few overs.
Todd Dalton: The glue at the top of the order, who can bat all day as well as a handy medium paced bowler.
Chris Newbound: Has excelled in his first year in first grade and someone who will dig in all day and do what's best for his team.
Blake Larance: Leading run scorer for the competition this season who won't take a backwards step; the new "Mr cricket".
Darren "snozza" Bourke: Best wicket keeper in the competition and excellent with the bat - due for a big innings.
Nathan "lobes" Lyon: Middle order bat and has had an outstanding year with the bat and provides great energy in the field.
Mick "the undertaker" Gough: Loves this time of year, experienced and the captain's go to man with bat or ball.
Jason "horse" Blythe: The X factor, best all-rounder in the district - deserves a premiership.
Andrew Murrell: Left arm quick, outstanding bowler, puts in all day.
Dan "ginger" Morrison: first year at club, has exceeded all expectations, big future ahead.
Matt "stick" Broderick: talented bowler and batsman waiting for a break out game.
Congratulations Wauchope RSL first grade on making it to the grand final.
All the best boys - Wauchope is right behind you.
