It all came together for RSL on the day, with batsmen and bowlers standing up to be counted in the big one at Andrews Park.
RSL made 149 before rolling the Magpies for 68.The veterans in Kyle Mann (36), Lindsay Hopper (36) and skipper Matt Day (35) had good days with the bat to put on a competitive total.
"We got the job done," Day said after refusing to call his innings a good captain's knock. It was slow going early for the batsman, Day said.
"There was a bit in the deck and they bowled pretty well," he said.
"But we always had wickets in hand to kick on the scoring a bit at the end.
"Tony Brown took five wickets with the ball to bring home the win. The team captured the key scalp of BJ Schneider for 2. Sam Johnson had Schneider caught at deep mid wicket.
"He was the big wicket for us," Day said.
