The night was a huge success with the first grade jersey auction adding entertainment and also raising some funds for the football club. Current players and their partners, committee members and Blues fans were all in attendance to start the season on a good note.
The Group 3 competition will officially commence this weekend with the Blues set to take on cross town rivals the Port Panthers/Breakers. Wauchope are looking for a strong start to the season following their incredibly successful season last year, going through the competition undefeated.
Coach Robbie Trembath is confident his team will be more than competitive again in the 2014 season.
"We've lost some pretty important players from last years first grade side in my brother Chris, Justin Laurie and also Adam McMurray."
With those players missing Wauchope have nearly had to build a new forward pack from scratch.
"We've recruited a big forward from NZ who will add size to the team also Reece Vella has returned to the club which will boost the forwards further."
Trembath added that there is some promising juniors coming through the club which is really pleasing, along with former first grader Ged Roods returning to the field after being sidelined last year following a knee reconstruction.
The Blues will kick off the season this Sunday April 27 at the Regional sports stadium in Port Macquarie.
