IT was all Long Flat's way in the first half at Long Flat on Saturday when Beechwood took to the field in opposition in the Hastings League rugby league competition.

Josh Henry opened the scoring in the fourth minute with a try, which Corey Milgate converted, as he did the Keith Hollis try seven minutes later.
Beechwood held on until five minutes before half time, when Tom Willemsen crossed, giving the Dragons their 16 half-time points.
As the siren sounded Logan Marshall scored for Beechwood. With the conversion unsuccessful, the score line was 16-4 at the break.
Beechwood looked a different side when they returned to the field, with tries by Quintin Paine in the 42nd minute and Steve Schubert just 12 minutes later.
Amos Donovan converted both to equal the score at 16 all.
Sean Bannerman scored a try eight minutes later, which Corey Milgate converted only to have Jamie Trotter's try and Amos Donovan's goal bring the score to 22 all with five minutes to go.
Tom Willemsen sealed Beechwood's fate when he scored with just two minutes to go.
Beechwood was unable to respond so the final score was 26-22.
The referee's points went to Shaun Bannerman and Keith Hollis for the Dragons and Steve Schubert for the Shamrocks.
Best for Beechwood were Jordan Smith, Daniel Jones and Amos Donovan, while Jordan Smith received the Players' Player vote for the match.
Next Saturday Beechwood is at home to the new team of the competition, the Harrington Hurricanes, and we are looking forward to the long weekend break in June.
