Deputy Premier and Oxley MP Mr Stoner recently toured the hospital site and was able to see first-hand the works that have been delivered on the project so far.
Mr Stoner said the Urgent Care Centre (UCC), which has been running from an interim location since early March, will replace the Emergency Department. It will be open from 8am to 6pm every day.
“The new UCC will provide appropriate health care to the community of Wauchope and nearby towns, with support for high level care from Port Macquarie Base Hospital," Mr Stoner said.
“The layout and design enables the very best patient care and patient experience to be provided in modern, therapeutic surroundings.
“I’m very much looking forward to the opening of the purpose built Urgent Care Centre which is one of two major infrastructure projects to soon come online at Wauchope.
“At the rear of the hospital a brand new 8 bed $2.4 million Palliative Care Unit is due to welcome patients from the mid-July," he said.
