Rosemary Butler was presented the award at the 2014 Anzac Day luncheon.
It follows a recommendation from the local sub-branch to state headquarters.
Mrs Butler is heavily involved in the ladies auxiliary and worked with wives of ex-servicemen to organise and serve meals at Anzac Day luncheons. Other voluntary roles included undertaking administrative work with the Vietnam Veterans office, previously located in Wauchope, from 1998 to 2009.
Since 2009 Mrs Butler has been providing administrative and office support to Wauchope sub-branch.
This support involves maintaining pension files, taking care of mail and telephone traffic, greeting clients and general admin matters.
Rose is a JP and this aspect has proved very handy, allowing clients to complete paperwork. Rose exhibits all the qualities of a great welfare worker with her emphasis on confidentiality and genuine kindness.
The Wauchope RSL sub-branch comprises people who have served in the defence forces, providing a meeting and socialisation point for ex-service members and its headquarters is currently located at the Wauchope RSL Club.
Many members provide great service to other members by holding office and generally working towards the betterment of the group. There are also people who are not ex-service but generously provide their time and talents to support this organisation.
Rosemary is married to former army officer and Vietnam Veteran Mal Butler.
The members of Wauchope RSL sub-branch thank Rose for her assistance and congratulate her on receiving this wonderful award.
