The task to raise the required funds to build the facility is the next step for the local committee, with a $250,000 price tag on the overall cost of the project.
Port Macquarie Hastings Council will fund half the estimated cost, with the remainder supplemented from whatever other sources are available, says the committee.
"SkateWauchope will be applying for grants from as many sources as possible, including state, federal and specific sporting funds," the committee said.
"To make a stronger case for successful grant applications, project support locally is important either in cash or kind, to contribute to the construction and to this end we are seeking your support.
"What we would like at this stage from the local community, is some commitments towards the facility rather than collecting cash to put in the bank as it may be six months or more before construction commences, however we are an incorporated association and we do have the necessary banking facilities."
If you feel you would be able to contribute to the new Wauchope skate park could you please contact us for a form we have prepared, indicate your commitment and scan and email it back to the secretary on skatewauchope@outlook.com.
Any questions can be directed to Michelle Willingham on 0418 854 641 or Natasha Costigan on 0419 854 437.
SkateWauchope is a local incorporated organisation committed to the development of a new skate park facility in Wauchope.
As you may have heard or read in the local press, the current Wauchope skate park is in serious need of an upgrade and many consider it is in an unsatisfactory and unsavoury location.
Over the past 12 months SkateWauchope has liaised with the Port Macquarie-Hastings Council, local skaters and their families, local residents and other interested people (including adult skaters) to seek a new location and facilitate the design of a new skate park.
At the most recent council meeting, the final draft design of a new Wauchope skate park was approved for the selected location in Landrigan Park, adjacent to the indoor stadium.
As a thank you and acknowledgement of your contribution all donations over $100 will be permanently acknowledged in a "contributors wall" that will be part of the landscaping, your company will be mentioned in press releases for SkateWauchope and your logo promoted on our Facebook 'SkateWauchope' page.
