John had a better read of the greens and Jack appeared to struggle with his weight and thus his length for much of the match - one of those days, as they say.
John is only a recent member of the club and we welcome his experience and hope it will help and influence our overall bowling standards, the club says.
In coming weeks John is to represent Malta at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games and while we wish him well we will be cheering on our own Australian team, Aussie, Aussie, Aussie, oi, oi oi!
Wednesday at the Wauchope Men's Bowling Club saw 26 players participate in our single entry select triples.
Winner of the afternoon, and a very popular win I might add, were Graeme Atkins, Max Gatenby and Peter McLeod with +26. Runners up were 'the Comboyne Cowboy' Earl Deb and Adolf Giocavani with +12.
The weather has been great for bowls so get your name down and get along for an enjoyable afternoon.
If you are keen to play in this event please ensure your name is registered prior to 11.30am on the day to avoid any delay in structuring the draw and thus the commencement of the games at 1pm.
Friday saw a turnout of 10 teams contest the nominated pairs event. The winners on the day in a count back on ends were Graeme Atkins, for the second time in the week, and ping, ping, wickathon star Ronnie Ross with +14 (14 ends).
Runners-up were, you guessed it, Ken (Coull) and Barbie (Ansley) also with +14 (11 ends).
Our thanks to Lester, Ken, Ron and Bill for volunteering and so capably representing our club at the President's Day held at Hat Head on Sunday.
This week on the bowls agenda we have the usual Friday afternoon's nominated pairs at 1pm, single entries will also be accepted.
Wednesday afternoon single entry club select triples are at 1pm. Visitors are most welcome to register for any of these events by entering on the available sheet on the notice bench or phoning the club.
Come along and enjoy some convivial company, share a laugh and maybe a sherbet or two.
On Sunday at 9am the monthly Jackpot Triples will again be contested so get your team entered.
The District Triples Championships will commence this weekend and we wish all our nominated teams the very best of luck.
On the weekend of August 9 and 10 we will be holding our annual Three Bowl Triples tournament with some good dollars to be won so see the notice board or phone the club and enter a team.
For those members interested in having a hands-on role in helping our club nomination forms our now available for the WMBC committee with the AGM to be held on August 31 at 10am.
