There will be a 10km Social Ride on Saturday afternoon, 26th July, and a 20km Social ride and 40km-60km Elevator Trainer Rides on Sunday morning, 27th July. For members of the NSW Endurance Riders Association, 80km-100km Elevator rides will be held on the Sunday.
The Hastings District Pony Club will be operating the canteen from lunchtime Saturday and providing a three-course dinner on Saturday night, plus other refreshments over the weekend. Camping facilities and firewood are available.
Thanks to generous sponsorship from the community there will completion awards for successful competitors.
Longstanding Riding for the Disabled volunteer Dee Pike will be helping with the organising over the weekend, but is determined to find time to enjoy the ride as well, so she plans to ride Clipper in the 10km ride on Saturday.
Clipper started his working life as a children's pleasure horse, then did a number of 80km and 100km rides, before becoming a Pony Club horse, where he succeeded in jumping, one day events, sporting events and dressage.
He then spent some more years in Pony Club, being ridden by younger children, and doing dressage with their older sister.
Now, entering his golden years, he is enjoying life as Dee's trail riding companion, and as a valued Riding for the Disabled mount.
This event is to raise much needed funds for the RDA Centre, which operates at the Wauchope Showground for over 40 riders from the local community.
Horse riding provides the riders with a healthy, relaxing and therapeutic activity to give them a sense of achievement and to develop their abilities.
