All are welcome to share in the warmth and splendour of a fine and hearty Shakespearean Christmas in winter time, which is when it should be. Traditional Twelfth Night festivities will include feasting upon many good and fat things, and as the Bard says, "I would give all my fame for a pot of ale", so we will raise our toasts to "Wassail!
Come along to meet Philostrate, master of the revels (the Rev John Squires), PeaseBlossom his delicate fairy wife (the Rev Elizabeth Raine), and Hecate, a real witch of a woman (take a bow, Greta Warner).
The programme will include the lighting of the Yuletide Candle that 'shines as a good deed in a naughty world'. St Nicholas will also visit.
The annual event is an important fundraiser for the Wauchope Uniting Church. This year, money raised will support local school programmes and youth activities that are assisted by the church.
The evening is titled 'A Midwinter's Night Dream and a Comedy of Errors: Christmas in July in August'.
Festivities will start at 6.00pm on Saturday August 23, at the Wauchope Uniting Church in Hastings Street.
The cost is $25 per person RSVP to Elizabeth on elizraine@bigpond.com or phone 6586-4632.
