The pair will zoom out of Wauchope on Saturday to be in Armidale for the start of the 2014 Bush to Coast Trek.
The annual week-long event explores different regional areas of the Australian countryside by car and since its inception the trek has visited more than 300 towns, 35 schools and raised over $1,045,000 for the Starlight Children's Foundation.
These funds have enabled Starlight to grant 160 life-changing wishes or transform the hospital experience for 28,243 sick children at hospitals around Australia, including John Hunter Children's Hospital.
Thanks to generous donations from Hal Lyndsay Earthmoving, the Wauchope Steam, Oil and Engine Club and Wauchope Timbertown Tennis Club, John and Bill will enjoy a week exploring Dalby, Hervey Bay, Caboolture and Tenterfield before the trek finishes in Woolgoolga.
This is John Eggert's sixth trek but the enthusiasm hasn't waned.
"It's a great week, all about mates, friends with not too many cars.
"You aren't waiting all day to start or finish and you get to see a lot of the country mostly on dirt roads while supporting a wonderful cause," said John. The event begins on Sunday August 24 and finishes on Sunday August 30. For more information on this year's Trek4Kidz, visit th website www. trek4kidz.com
