The Co-op will be presenting Community Chest grants to 23 community groups and schools who will fund projects that give back to locals.
It is also the HCCU's 47th birthday and they join the Co-op in celebrating many community partnerships.
The HCCU was originally formed in support of Hastings Co-op employees and suppliers and this birthday also reflects their beginnings.
Credit Union pioneers held the first formation Board meeting for what was then known as Hastings Rural Credit Union on September 4, 1967. The Credit Union was formed to provide financial services to the employees and suppliers of the local Hastings Dairy Co-operative and to enable its members to obtain low-cost loans and build their savings.
The HCCU and the Co-op still have a very strong business and community friendship and many members share a love for both organisations.
The Hastings Co-op IGA Community Chest program provides an opportunity to local schools, churches, non-for profit groups, charity organisations, clubs and or sporting groups to receive additional funding towards their work within the community.
"We continue to be there for our members, who are our owners and our customers," said Neville Parsons HCCU CEO.
"That is truly the Hastings Co-operative difference also."
Now 47 years on and this fundamental thought continues to drive both of these businesses as they continue to be relevant to the member owners.
"Our challenge is to ensure that the legacy that we each leave will see the HCCU and the Hastings Co-op continuing to be relevant and indeed beneficial and pivotal to the financial and social well-being of our members and their community," said Hastings Co-op CEO, Allan Gordon.
Mr Parsons further stated, "Holiday Coast Credit Union will proudly be present on Thursday, September 4 when our founder, the Hastings Cooperative presents their 2014 Community Chest allocations on what is a significant day in the history of the credit union."
HCCU will cut a cake to celebrate 47 years of serving this community and considers it a privilege to cut their cake at this major community support event.
"Everyone in the community is invited to join Port Macquarie Hastings Council mayor and Council general manager to celebrate at Bain Park, Wauchope from 4pm," said Allan Gordon.
