"We were pleased with the turnout for the Hastings Street Party with around 300 people attending the event, said Council's Group Manager Community Place Lucilla Marshall.
"The overall response to Council's Place Making initiative was positive and lots of great ideas were shared."
A number of community stalls, food stands, music, activities and kid's entertainment were arranged along Hastings Street under a canopy of 100 lanterns prepared by students of Wauchope Public School. The overall effect was stunning with the lanterns and special lighting illuminating the fig trees and providing a festive atmosphere.
"The community is very proud of their friendly town and as such freely contributed to discussions around what they would like to see happen at Wauchope," said Lucilla Marshall.
" Ideas consisted of adding colour and street furniture to the main street and improving the footpaths around town.
"The skate park was a popular topic as well as the opportunity for night time trading," she said.
The party continues this Friday when the initiative moves to Bold Street in Laurieton.
