The club looked magnificent, decked out in beautiful floral arrangements. We cannot thank Earl Debreceny enough for all the beautiful Comboyne flowers and Pam Dures and Lil Allen for their floral skills.
We also provided a great trade table and a great variety of raffle prizes, a lot which were donated. It is wonderful to see the help that is on hand in our club.
Wauchope is quite a small town but we are lucky enough to have sponsors for this day.
We appreciate that these businesses do still help us out. Our major sponsors are Wauchope Real Estate, Wauchope Gazette and Wauchope Stock and Estate Agents. It is very rewarding to have this backing.
Ninety-six players took part and that is capacity for our greens. Gary Foster as usual had the greens well organised and playing perfectly.
Players from Port City, Westport, Port Panthers, Kew, Lake Cathie, North Haven and six teams from our own club took part.
The overall winner was the team of B. Waddington, M. Buckley, and A. Pobje from North Haven. Second was also from North Haven, I. Ganic, L. Winner and O. Smallwood, with third place going to Westport's D. Penny, C. Purnell and E. Taylor. Congratulations to all these lucky and skilful players.
The most successful Wauchope tam was A. Swanson, J. Hall and L. Allen, with second going to A. Steel, P. Coombes and J. Coombes.
The Wauchope Gazette is always the sponsor for the Wauchope teams.
A total of 11 raffle prizes were won and five 100 club prizes.
We always have two special ladies who give up their day to umpire - Val Byrnes and Valda Munns - and they were presented with an arrangement of flowers as thanks for a job well done.
To all the helpers who gave up their time to help with lunch and cleaning up, keeping the water bottles replenished and working on the trade tables and selling raffle tickets, a job well done.
Our president Annette handled the day well and also thanks to Lisa Wannell from Wauchope Real Estate for making herself available to present trophies.
Sixteen players were back out to play on Saturday and enjoyed a nice social day. The winners were the team with the highest score - Janet Monkley, Heather Eldridge and Lyn Reid. The lucky losers with the lowest number of ends were Dot Galbraith, Joyce Boyd and Jutta Hall.
Thursday is the first round of championship pairs and Saturday starts the consistency singles. More names are still required for pennants.
We wish Bill Brooker a speedy recovery. Hope all is going well.
We are having a visit from a man called Chris Thomas who is visiting as many bowling clubs as possible. He will be playing 10 ends of bowls hoping to be recognised in the Guinness book of records as well as raising money for breast cancer. It would be nice for people to come along and support his achievements. He will be at the club at 10am.
