The Wauchope Pool will no longer have a water slide for the children; the area set aside for an indoor heated 25m pool will be utilised by a smaller, outdoor pool.
On a personal level the 20 unused pool coupons I purchased last season can not be used this year because the lease has changed hands.
In other words the local council is about the only one I have ever heard of which will not allow me to redeem the $70+ investment I made last year.
I also share the Pool committee's concern regarding the future of the (about) $1.3 million set aside for the indoor aquatic centre.
In view of all this please allow me to address two questions to our Mayor and Council:
(i) You have twice assurred me that the funds are still earmarked for the indoor pool and will remain so. Can you please tell me what is happening with the interest that this money is attracting? Is it added to the capital or is it spent somewhere else?
(ii) Can I deduct the $70 owing to me from the pool season booklet from my next rate payment? I ask this because my two requests have been either denied or ignored.
Also in the last "Wauchope Gazette" Councillor Intemann, in talking about the Cowarra Dam, told us we should not take such services for granted.
I certainly don't do that and I have a substantial rate bill plus endless and ever-increasing garbage, sewereage etc charges to tell me that whatever Council does for us is anything but "granted".
What I have come to take for granted is having requests such as the 15 I have made to deal with the mistletoe in the bottlebrush trees in Cameron Street and the reeds in the nearby creek, totally ignored.
Feel free to answer my questions both directly and through this newspaper.
