WAUCHOPE Bonny Hills SLSC took four surf boat crews to Yamba on October 18 and 19 and, with 18 clubs attending from NSW and QLD and a total of 48 crews competing in seven different divisions, they had their work cut out for them.

The Reserves Men, The Chubby Chasers, made up of Sam Monaghan, Aaron Grose, Banjo Latimer (sub for Nathan Ross), Harry Cain and swept by Steve 'Mono' Monaghan took home a very respectable equal first place, even managing to finish one race in first place without their trusty sweep.
The Junior Men, The Rusty Hooks, made up of Sean Dickson, Louis Rowe, Conner Perkins, Drouin Pike and swept by Wayne 'Dicko' Dickson, had a spectacular start to the season with their maiden race, taking out first place. They finished the day in fifth place out of eight highly competitive crews.
The Open Men, The Rejects, made up of Ged Roods, Tony Kee, Ben Dickson, Simon Stennett and swept by Wayne Dickson took out third place.
The Masters Women crew, The Alley Cats, also came home with a third place. Their team is made up of Michelle Kirkwood, Stephanie Lindeman, Lou O'Neill, Catherine Griffith and also swept by Wayne Dickson.
Two members of the Open Women's crew, The Bonny Chicks, attended, swept by Steve Monaghan and competed in a composite crew until they were unfortunately forced out by injury. The next carnival in the boat series will be held at Scotts Head on November 15-16.
If you're looking for a new sport that includes getting fit and lots of great camaraderie, the club is looking to put a few more crews on the beach, particularly in the masters men's divisions.
