FAWNA's volunteers are being called to rescue adults, juveniles and pup flying-foxes caught by their wing membranes and mouths in barbed wire fences and in netting loosely draped over fruiting trees in suburban and rural gardens.
A new free Wildlife Rescue App has been developed by IFAW in collaboration with the NSW Wildlife Council to help members of the public identify and have a direct phone link to their local wildlife rescue group.
The wesbitee www.wildlifefriendlyfencing.com also offers a link to a netting page with up-to-date information and an instructional video showing how to net your trees in a wildlife-friendly way.
Anyone who sees a flying fox in an overhead powerline is urged to call FAWNA immediately on 6581 4141.
