More than 700 people walked or ran in support of those living with dementia in the community.
A massive $15,000 was raised that will be used to boost dementia education services and support delivered throughout the Mid North Coast.
In the Oxley State Electorate there is an estimated 1,500 people living with dementia. With that figure projected to increase to about 3,300 by 2050, events like Memory Walk & Jog play an important role in raising awareness of dementia.
With so many attending on the day in support of those living with dementia and helping us to raise funds, it shows we are well on the way to becoming dementia-friendly in Port Macquarie.
Those who participated in Memory Walk & Jog can be confident that the money they raised will have a direct and positive impact for the members of our community who are living with dementia.

I'd like to acknowledge those who helped make the 2014 Port Macquarie Memory Walk & Jog so successful, especially the Wauchope Gazette for so generously helping us spread the word. I'd also like to acknowledge the participants and volunteers who shared their very personal reasons for taking part in Port Macquarie Memory Walk & Jog with your readers.
Thank you also to our partners Bupa, Souvenaid, Eli Lilly, the Port Macquarie Triathlon Club, the Tacking Point Lions Club and the Port Macquarie-Hastings Council for their generous assistance this year.
And thank you also to Member for Port Macquarie Leslie Williams MP for her support for the event.
Planning has already begun for the next Port Macquarie Memory Walk & Jog and we hope to be able to build on this year's excellent result.
We have been working hard in Port Macquarie to ensure the community is dementia-friendly - that is, a community where people living with dementia are respected, valued and supported to maintain a good quality of life.
