Regular fundraisers were held that included BBQ's, raffles and the donations made through the collection tins present in many Wauchope businesses with the commitment of various community groups, businesses and individuals supporting the project.
Various enquiries were made regarding the removal of the slide including the committee to determine their position and this enquiry again reaffirmed the intention that the funds were to be spent on the heated pool.
The decision made by the PMHC council to approve the upgrade of the 50m pool and filtration unit, with the inclusion of heating to extend the swimming season for Wauchope, is a change to the project priorities.
This decision may have been the result after community consultation but the community were not given due courtesy to accept or determine otherwise the use of those funds held in trust.
The funds held in reserve accounts by council raises an exceptional circumstance as those funds held were generated by community.
Mrs Gilbert made a request to council to defer the decision to allow for consultation on behalf of the committee and numereous supporting community members and groups to defer any decision.
It was a reasonable request I believe to expect the community to be provided consultation prior to any proposed decision with funds raised by the community.
