CHRISTMAS festivities hit full throttle from today with a number of exciting activities planned in the lead up to Christmas for everyone to enjoy.

The Wauchope and Hinterland Christmas in Bain Park kicks off from 5pm this evening and is proudly presented by the Wauchope Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc and the Holiday Coast Credit Union.
Organisers are particularly excited about this year's event with a revamp of some of the traditonal activities and times "The organising committee have been working hard to create a special night for Wauchope locals and visitors," said event coordinator Lisa McPherson.
"In particular, Santa will stay a little longer this year to give children the opportunity to speak with him at his chair and parents are welcome to take photos of the experience."
Bain Park will come alive with the sounds of Christmas cheer with Rosanna Vanderley, Wauchope Sing Australia and the Combined Churches Community Choir gracing the stage, backed by the Hastings Municipal Band.
Many local performers including the Wauchope and Port Macquarie Performing Arts, the Wauchope Youth Theatre will also take to the stage, along with an interactive "Christmas Story" presentation from the Wauchope Ministers Association.
This will be followed by the Colouring Competition Winners announcement and Santa's arrival at approximately 6.30pm.
"In 2014 we have been thinking BIG" said Lisa McPherson.
"Literally BIG, with a 5 metre Santa who will welcome people into the park, along with his 3.3 metre reindeer.
"It is all a bit of fun to bring the community together and foster a shared Christmas spirit.
"I am sure it will offer a wow moment for people on the night."
There are many exciting surprises in store and activities for everyone to enjoy including the drawing of the Wauchope Gazette Shop Local promotion.
One lucky participant will walk away with $500 worth of shopping vouchers to be spent in the businesses participating in the promotion.
A brand new Nissan X -Trail will be an early Christmas present for one lucky shareholder tomorrow night. After a promotion that has been running since August, the Hastings Co-op Shareholders prize accumulates this Friday at around 4.50 pm when the announcement is made.
The festivities at the Wauchope SUPA IGA start at 2pm and include the SES BBQ from 2pm,Wauchope Fire Brigade Santa Run at 4pm plus giveaways, prizes and much more.
TWO lolly drops are in the pipeline for locals to enjoy during the festive season.
The annual Wauchope Fire Brigade lolly drop starts on Sunday at 3.30pm. The truck will make its way around the streets of Wauchope so be sure to be out and about when you hear the siren.
Members of the King Creek and Rural Fire Brigade, accompanied by Santa, will continue the 15 year old tradition with a lolly drop on Christmas Eve. The truck starts near Sarahs Crescent about 3.30pm, making its way through King Creek before finishing at Bago.
