Turning up to overcast skies and a bit of rain, made the decision to bat or bowl first that much harder.
Eventually Inverell won the toss and chose to bat.
They came out with the top three looking very strong and everyone was sensing a long day ahead before the Wauchope bowlers slowly started chipping away.
At the first drinks break, Inverell were 1 for 51 off 17 overs and set themselves up for a big score.
What followed was some excellent tight bowling and outstanding fielding to see Inverell lose 9 for 70 and be bowled out for 121.
Matt Day was the pick of the bowlers taking 3 for 18. He was backed up by Andrew Glover with 2 for 18.
Bailey Smith came on and destroyed the lower order taking 4 for 22 and in the process took his 100th senior wicket for the club.
Wauchope were off to a great start as Nathan Lyon and Heath Larance raced to 54 before Lyon fell for 20.
The rot set in as Wauchope proceeded to lose 6 wickets for 18 runs; setting up a tense finish.
Scott Mackedie batted well for 20 and Heath Larance top scored with 29.
It was up to Andrew Murrell to hit the winning runs and Wauchope won by 1 wicket.
