ENCOURAGING an active lifestyle and rewarding kids for getting out and having a go are just some of the reasons to get involved in the Wauchope Rotary Club-Wauchope Gazette Sports Awards, says sponsor and personal trainer Trent Waicokacola.

A training session with Trent will be one of the prizes in the awards.
Nominations are now open for the 2014 awards.
There are five categories you can enter, said the Rotary Club-Gazette Sports Awards co-ordinator, Rotarian Raelene Monkley.
"I encourage all sports people to apply. There will be cash prizes for our junior and senior winners," she said.
"Our local area has produced some exceptional sporting people over the years."
The Junior Sports Person category is open to individuals under the age of 18 years who have achieved in any sporting field during 2014.
Junior Sports Team is open for any team where the participants are under 18 years of age who have achieved during 2014 in any sporting field.
The Junior section of the awards will be sponsored by Wauchope's 5 Star Fitness, Cameron Street, Wauchope.
Senior Sports Person is open for all those 18 years of age and over who have achieved during 2014 in any sporting field.
Senior Sports Team is open to any team where the participants are aged over 18 years who have achieved during 2014 in any sporting field.
The senior section of the awards is sponsored by Richard and Michelle McGovern, of Wauchope Sports and Trophies, High Street, Wauchope.
"There is a rich history of sporting talent in the Wauchope-Hastings area," Richard says.
"The new breed of sporting talent is now being unearthed and the sports awards are a perfect opportunity to highlight sporting talent from the area."
The final category is the Services to Sport Award. This category is open to anyone who has given service to a club or sport (coach/manager/volunteer) and is thought deserving to be recognised for this service.
There will also be encouragement awards from various Wauchope businesses.
Entry forms are available from the Wauchope Gazette, Wauchope Sports and Trophies and the Wauchope Rotary web page, www.wauchoperotary.org.
The closing date for entries is January 31, 2015, with the awards breakfast being held on February 17, at 6.45am in the Wauchope Rotary Youth Centre in Oxley Lane (next to Bain Park), Wauchope.
