IT was 13 years ago that the Wauchope Showground first opened the gates to the Hastings Farmers' Market and during all these years the market has offered the community the choice to buy fresh and local produce and product direct from the growers and producers to the public.

Direct marketing through farmers' markets continues to be an important sales outlet for our local producers.
Food travel and shipping uses large amounts of natural resources (especially fossil fuels), contributes greatly to pollution and creates excess garbage with extra packaging.
Farmers' markets are continuing to rise in popularity, mostly due to a growing consumer interest in obtaining fresh products directly from the farm.
After the recent rain customers can expect to find the freshest of locally grown produce, baked goods, meats, eggs, honey and plants, as well as some beautiful handmade gifts, flowers, soap and lotions and much more.
"We typically have a nice selection of vendors at the market, with the number growing steadily," says market coordinator Elly Franchimont.
So come and support our local producers at the Hastings Farmers' Market at the Wauchope Showground on Saturday, February 28, and have a chat with some of the vendors who have been part of the market since its inception and also meet the more recent additions to the event.
To add an extra element to the market experience you will be entertained by the soulful voice and guitar of local musician Peggy van Zalm.
