THE weather provided some great opportunities for our fishos to get out there amongst the fish on the weekend of February 6, 7 and 8 when Wauchope RSL Fishing club had its monthly outing.

A great weekend was had by all who ventured out, with some excellent catches being weighed in.
In beach/rock and estuary, Mick Winchester had a good outing with two jewfish and five whiting, Dan Murphy had a good outing with 12 tailor, six bream, and one whiting, Pat McInherny had nice bag with six whiting and two bream, Mat Rumble had a great catch with 20 bream, six flathead, five tailor and a trevally, Andrew Nee had eight whiting, Tim Hall had one flathead and Daphne McInherny had one whiting and four bream.
Mick Winchester took the 5 points in the top 5 bag weight with his two jewfish and three whiting weighing 17.15kg for his bag weight and his whiting weighing 0.970kg in the species comp.
Mat Rumble got 4 points in the top 5 bag weight courtesy of a cracker trevally from the north wall of 1.68kg and four bream. Dan Murphy took 3 points in the top 5 bag weight of two bream and three tailor, his biggest bream weighing 0.700kg and his biggest tailor weighing 0.700kg.
Pat McInherny earned 2 points with a top 5 bag weight of 2.11 kg, and Tim Hall with a top 5 bag weight of 1.43kg, which was a flathead which gave him 1 point. The top 5 species points, with whiting being the No.1 target species, were Mick Winchester with five fish for 0.970kg, Pat McInherny with 4 points with 0.900kg, Andrew Nee with 3 points for 0.750, Dan Murphy with 2 points for 0.290kg, and Daphne McInherny with 1 point for 0.180.
The biggest whiting for the weekend went to Dan Murphy, with the thought of a re-weigh from Pat in which only 0.01kg separated the pair.
Deep sea/Estuary.
For the deep-sea boys the weather gave them some great opportunities also.
Brett Hollis had 17 fish with teraglin, flathead, snapper and morwong, Allan Kilpatrick had 14 fish with snapper, pigfish, flathead, Terry Hollis had three with flathead and snapper.
Brett took the 5 points in the top 5 bag weight with 4.37kg with a beaut trag of 1.63kg, along with his two snapper and flathead. Allan took the 4 points with flathead and snapper in the top 5 bag weight of 2.40kg, and Terry with 3 points with a bag weight of 1.52kg.
In the top 5 species with snapper being the No. 2 species it was a battle of the boats, with Allan coming out on top with 5 points two snapper weighing 1.30kg, Brett with 4 points two snapper of 0.890kg, and Terry with one snapper of 0.500kg.
The catch of the weekend went to Allan with his snapper of 0.600kg and Brett close behind by only 0.200kg.
Congratulations to Dan Murphy from our club who was again re-elected as the Hastings district amateur fishing clubs weigh master at the recent AGM for the Hastings fishing clubs.

All juniors - Beach/rock and estuary - bream, flathead, leatherjacket.
Seniors - Beach/rock and estuary - bream, flathead, leatherjacket.
Deep sea/estuary - flathead, pigfish, pearl perch.
Well done to those who went out with some great fish being caught. Remember if you don't catch any of the above species but have still caught fish you can weigh your catch for the overall weight and point score. So come down, bring your catch, have a barbecue we'd love to see you there.
