IT appears to have been a busy night for vandals in Wauchope.
The much admired Hello Koalas sculpture Guula, who sits in Bain Park, has been reported missing and council owned rubbish bins have been set alight.
Guula, decorated by Wauchope TAFE students, was seen in the park yesterday afternoon but was missing this morning.
The sculpture was reported missing to police today by Margret Meagher, Director of the Hello Koalas Project.
The news comes as a blow to Mrs Meagher who has weathered the theft of two of the painted fibreglass sculptures koalas from Port Macquarie earlier in the year and the vandalism of another two.
Wauchope Fire and Rescue chief, Rob Pursehouse told the Gazette this morning that two council rubbish bins on High Street were set alight in the early hours of this morning.
The fire crew was called to High Street at around 3am today and extinguished two small fires in council rubbish bins outside Christopher's Meats and Wauchope Pharmacy.
Mr Pursehouse also reported that hundred of newspapers were scattered down the main street after being ripped from their bindings.
Anyone who has any knowledge of the removal or current whereabouts of the sculpture is asked to urgently contact Wauchope Police on 6585 1404, the Gazette on 6585 2355 or Margret Meagher on 0416 641 482.
