The 105th show was one of the biggest in recent years and Wauchope Show Society president Bob Kennett thinks he knows the secret to the success.
“We try to bring something different each year so its not the same old thing year in year out,” he said. “We’re very happy with how this year went we had one of the biggest gates we’ve ever had and everything ran smooth.
“We would have had 9,000 through the gates over the two days. “That’s probably 2500 up on previous years.”
He said the major attraction this time around was the roof top express show. The entertainer coached his horses and bullocks to climb atop a truck and trailer set up.
“It was actually really impressive and different,” Kennett said. “And then of course you have got your old favourites like the show chickens and the trotting in particular was a favourite.”
There was also a new addition in the Farmers Challenge.
“There were teams of four competing in eight different challenges. That was also popular.”
Kennett said there was more to running a successful show though than just the entertainment.
He said it was the people of Wauchope that has made the show what it is today.
“Its just the community spirit,” he said. “We had well over 100 volunteers and they all put their hands up to help out. I’d like to congratulate them on the job they’ve done once again.:
He said the Lions Club, Riding for the Disabled, Westpac and the Wauchope Yestayear Truck and Machinery Club all deserved a special mention
