The Lake Cathie Raiders took on the Comboyne Tigers at Cathie where a good crowd saw a hard and physical game.
Eight minutes into the game Paul Ritchie for the Raiders opened the scoring with a four pointer, Jarrod Bruen added the extras.
Ten minutes later the Tigers’ Tom Mumford scored and Shaun Madely converted. The Raiders Ben Read was then sin-binned and the Tigers took full advantage scoring back to back tries.
One each to Shannon Lee and Matt Temple, Madely converted both moving the score to 18 to 6. In the 28th minute the Raiders Ronald Ross was sin-binned, a minute later Tom Mumford scored his second for the day.
Dion Glassie scored for the Raiders and Bruen added the extras. A minute left on the clock and Tigers coach Michael Schiffmann scored and Matt Phillpot converted. Half time score 28 to 12.
Three minutes into the second half, Greg Roberts scored and Bruen again converted for the Raiders to move the score 28 to 18, from then on it was one way traffic with the Tigers scoring five more tries through Robert Briggs, Lee (second), Blake Debreceny, George Jones, Temple (second).
The final score 58-18. The Tigers forward pack dominated with Bevan Castles, Blake Debreceny, Madely, Tom Mumford and Blake Reis leading the way as well as the halves Shannon Lee, George Jones and center, Temple having great games.
The Raiders Captain Coach Bo Wilson had his usual go forward game, with the ever green Dion Glassie playing well. Drew Smith looked dangerous with limited opportunities with the ball.
In other games the South West Rocks Marlins were to good for the Boardies winning 90 to 6. The Boardies only had two reserves which didn’t help their cause.
Long Flat defeated Beechwood 38 to 14, and, in close one, the Kendall Blues beat The Lower Macleay Magpies 32 to 22.
The Magpies lead most of the game but the Blues finished the stronger to edge out the Magpies.
Next week's games - Beechwood v Boardriders Kendall v Harrington Long Flat v Lake Cathie Raiders South West Rocks v Comboyne. Lower Macleay have the bye.
