THE South West Rocks Marlins lead the Hastings League competition on 10 points after defeating the Kendall Blues in their match played at the Rocks on a wet and cool Saturday afternoon.

Five minutes into the game Kendall's lock Greg Harris scored and Alex Pearce converted, putting the Blues in the lead 6-0.
It was all the Blues for the next 20 minutes but some strong defence from the Marlins denied the Blues any more points.
Twenty-five minutes in, the Marlins' Grant Schubert scored, with Owen Blair Jnr converting, locking up the score at 6 all.
With 10 minutes left in the half, the Blues' Smokey Smith was sin-binned and the Marlins took full advantage, scoring two tries, both to Owen Blair Jnr.
The first of these was a very well-timed run off a clever pass from Owen Blair Snr. Then, with a minute to go, the Blues lost the ball attacking the Marlins' line, Owen Blair Jnr received the ball and kicked down field, winning the race to score a 90-metre try, leaving the half-time score the Marlins' way 16 to 6.
The second half was all the Marlins', scoring four more tries and three goals. Tries went to Aiden Davey, Wayne Sines, Owen Blair Snr and Owen Blair Jnr - his third for the day. Owen Jnr kicked three goals, while the Blues' Chris Hanlon, who tried all day, scored the Blues' only try in the half, leaving the full-time score favouring the Marlin 38-10.
The Lower Macleay Magpies accounted for the Beechwood Shamrocks 36-22.
With 27 minutes gone the Shamrocks led the Magpies 18-10, with tries to Shane Farrington, Daniel Jones and two to Luke Donovan, with Ben Cutler kicking one goal, while the Magpies' Ben Jackson scored two tries and kicked one goal.
With only six minutes left on the clock the Magpies piled on three tries - one each to Tobi Malcom, Zac McKiernan and Kiea Pereira, with Ben Jackson converting all three, making the half time score 28-18.
In the second half the Shamrocks' Daniel Jones scored his second try while the Magpies' Joel McCafferty kicked a penalty goal, Jamal Toby scored a try and Ben Jackson kicked his sixth goal for the day, leaving the final score at 36-22.
Comboyne Tigers were too strong for the Boardriders, running out winners 68-10. The first half saw the Tigers score six tries to the Boardies' one. Tries went to Brock Howard, Michael Schiffmann, Chris Phillipson, Beau Dorrington, two to Beven Castles and two goals to Shawn Madeley, with the Boardies' one try to Tim Couch.
The second half saw the Tigers run in seven more tries - by Steve Gee, Matt Temple, Brock Howard, his second for the day, Shawn Madeley, Cameron Pharoah all one each, with Beven Castles scoring two, which made four for the day, while Shawn Madeley booted six more goals.
The Boardies Slade scored one try, with Ryan Cronin converting, with the final result a convincing win to the Tigers 68 to 10.
The final game of round six saw the Lake Cathie Raiders running out convincing winners over the Harrington Hurricanes 68 to 14.
